The medication matters. So does the care around it, and the price you can count on.

  • Options multiply. Brand-name, compounded, weekly, daily: the choices can blur.
  • Prices hide. Many start low and rise with the dose.
  • Care gets thin. Some programs stop at the prescription.

Your questions, answered

What are the weight loss injections you can get online?

The weight loss injections prescribed online are GLP-1 medications: tirzepatide (brand-name Zepbound) and semaglutide (brand-name Wegovy). Each is a once-weekly injection that needs a prescription. Without insurance, Zepbound costs $299 to $449 a month direct from Lilly, plus the prescriber’s visit. Compounded versions cost less: at NexLife, compounded tirzepatide is $169 a month and compounded semaglutide $139, at every dose, with care and shipping included. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.

What are the best weight loss injections?

The FDA-approved options are Zepbound (tirzepatide) and Wegovy (semaglutide). Compounded tirzepatide and semaglutide cost less but are not FDA-approved. A licensed prescriber decides which is right for you, based on your health history.

How much do weight loss injections cost without insurance?

Zepbound costs $299 to $449 a month through LillyDirect, plus the prescriber’s visit. The Wegovy injection can be $199 a month for the first two fills for eligible new patients. At NexLife, compounded tirzepatide is $169 and compounded semaglutide $139 a month, at every dose.

Can I get weight loss injections online?

Yes, with a prescription. A licensed physician reviews your health history online, and if treatment is right for you, the medication ships to your home. NexLife lists availability in all 50 states.

Do I need a prescription for weight loss injections?

Yes. Tirzepatide and semaglutide are prescription medications, brand-name or compounded.

Are compounded weight loss injections FDA-approved?

No. Compounded tirzepatide and semaglutide are prepared by state-licensed pharmacies for individual prescriptions and are not FDA-approved.

Are there weight loss injections near me?

With telehealth, the visit happens online and the medication comes to you, so there is no clinic to travel to.

Important safety information

Compounded tirzepatide and semaglutide are not FDA-approved. The FDA has not reviewed them for safety, effectiveness or quality. The risks below come from the labeling of the FDA-approved medicines.

Both medicines may cause tumors in the thyroid, including thyroid cancer. In studies with rodents they caused thyroid tumors, and it isn't known whether they cause them in people. Don't use either if you or anyone in your family has had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), or if you have multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2). Tell your clinician if you notice a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing or shortness of breath.

Serious side effects can include inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), gallbladder problems, low blood sugar (especially with insulin or sulfonylureas), kidney problems from dehydration, severe stomach problems, serious allergic reactions, vision changes in people with type 2 diabetes, and depression or thoughts of suicide. Tell your care team before any surgery or procedure that uses anesthesia or deep sedation. Don't combine either medicine with other GLP-1 medicines.

Tirzepatide can make birth control pills less effective: use another method for 4 weeks after you start and after each dose increase. Semaglutide should be stopped at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy. Tell your clinician if you're pregnant, planning to be, or breastfeeding.

This is a summary, not the complete safety information. Read the full Prescribing Information for FDA-approved tirzepatide (Zepbound) and semaglutide (Wegovy), and talk with your clinician. You can report side effects to the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or fda.gov/medwatch.
